100wc letter from Gabe

Dear Mr Abbott
I believe that your ways need to change. I strongly believe that all children from all countries with a disability or not should go to school. There are 57 million children who have never gone to school and 1/3 have a disability. Children with disabilities have no way to get to or from school. Luckily there is an organisation to change this called send all my friends to school. I believe you should provide all countries with buses to take children to school. With your help we can make a change for these unfortunate children.

My Teacher Took My iPod

A Funny School Poem for Kids

by Kenn Nesbitt

My teacher took my iPod.

She said they had a rule;

I couldn’t bring it into class

or even to the school.

She said she would return it;

I’d have it back that day.

But then she tried my headphones on

and gave a click on Play.

She looked a little startled,

but after just a while

she made sure we were occupied

and cracked a wicked smile.

Her body started swaying.

Her toes began to tap.

She started grooving in her seat

and rocking to the rap.

My teacher said she changed her mind.

She thinks it’s now okay

to bring my iPod into class.

She takes it every day.

Throughout Term 1 we have been entering the 100 word challenge. I believe that you are doing a wonderful job of writing descriptively in just 100 words. I know you love receiving comments on your writing  and that motivates you. I know you also comment on each others’ stories.

Tell me how you feel about this opportunity to reach a wider audience. Please post your comments here.

Writers!

As many of you are enjoying story writing I thought I would write a post about ideas. I have ben so impressed by your imaginations and the terrific use of language that I have been reading in books and on blog posts. I am happy to see you reading and commenting so well on these stories and poems.

I found this website on story starters that you might like to check out.

Also for some great writing see these Year 6 blogs – Maddie F’s, Emily’s , Maddy H’s, Drelyn’s, Ana-Maria’s, Poppy’s, Olivia’s and Holly’s.

Matilda, an ordinary girl in an ordinary town in a not so ordinary house. Matilda’s house was more of a castle that towered over the streets. Winding stairs go in unpredictable paths, Matilda tiptoed up the frantic stairs searching for something to discover. She leaned against the revolting wall to catch her breath. BAM. She tumbles to the ground as the “wall” opened up like a door. A long dark pathway was ahead and she cautiously inched forwards. The end of the cave held a large chest encrusted in gold plating. But when she lifted the lid…

One hot summer’s day a mole was pushing through the earth looking for the centre of the Earth. About three days later he found it. Then he went back to the surface and got all his friends. They all dug down again and made a house near the centre of the Earth. They lived there for many years they had children, their children had children and so on. Then one day the house fell apart and the moles had no house to live in. After a week of being homeless the Earth’s centre the world exploded.

A shiver went up Ella’s spine. Everyone in the world is in an intense lockdown. The room was silent. I wasn’t moving a single muscle in my body. Our room was closed in like a box yet to be opened.

Earlier on during the day, the newspaper read in BIG BOLD LETTERS… ANDROID HITS EARTH!

The silence ended with a rumble, a jumble which roared through the school grounds.

“Quick take cover.” yelled Mrs Louis.

“It’s coming.” I thought.

The android felt like it was pushing through the earth. A crunch led with an ear-piercing scream. The bells were ringing and everyone was quiet.

It was my birthday in two days, I was so excited. I was counting my presents under the Christmas tree. My birthday is on the 17th of December 2002. My mum and dad put them under the Christmas tree. The next day I woke up to a room with everything, everywhere. Then everything shook and I was very scared and I fainted. Three minutes later I woke up I had a cut on my forehead and a bruise on my leg. I had to get out of my room. It felt like the earthquake was pushing through the earth. I was pushed to the floor.

A very hot, summer’s day in the Sahara desert when dust started blowing everywhere, sand started gathering up and for a split second everything went quiet, and then a massive tornado came, sucking up everything it could see. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Luckily we were in the house that got made tornado free so we were totally protected. There have only been 2 tornados here before. I was outside on the first one, but I got into the house soon enough. The second tornado was literally pushing through the earth. This one is definitely the worst tornado there has ever been.

I was pushing through the earth I was stuck in a coffin. I will tell you why. I was late for school on Tuesday morning. By the time I got there our maths test was over. You know how everyone has that one snappy teacher well this was my year to have one. He got so angry that I swear steam was coming out of his ears. His face looked like a tomato ready to be picked. He said if I was late ever again then he would kill me. So the next day I accidently slept in and was late for class. So my parents put me in a coffin thinking I had a heart attack. They buried me with the journal. I’m writing in waiting for death.
